Mission

Queanbeyan Baptist Church will attract and encourage people to experience the passion of growing in a life in Christ, empowering them for a meaningful ministry within the church and the wider community.

VALUES

As a community of God's people, in our life and ministry together, Queanbeyan Baptist Church values:

  1. PRAYER (Ephesians 6:18) ​
    - expressing our dependence on God- praise, worship, confession, thanksgiving, petition.

  2. VISION (Acts 16:9-10)
    - seeking and finding a God-given future,
    - communicating this vision openly and, 
    - fulfilling the vision through faith, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

  3. STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE (2 Corinthians 8:7)
    improving the quality with which the church's people, program and facilities are impacting the community. 
    frequent evaluation of programs in the light of our God-given purposes and defined standards.
    reflecting the excellence of God in all that we do.

  4. RELEVANCE​ (1 Corinthians 9:20-22)
    - presenting the unchanging message of the Gospel in ways which connect powerfully with the real needs of people in our community.

  5. AUTHENTICITY​ (2 Thessalonians 2:15)
    - remaining faithful to God, His Word and to who we are in Christ (integrity).

  6. CHANGE​ (1 Corinthians 9:20-22)
    - openness to change as a means of remaining effective and faithful in ministry.

  7. COMMITMENT (1 Corinthians 4:2)
    - to Christ, his Church and to ministry in Jesus' name.
    - loyalty and reliability.
    - membership - giving clear explanation of the level of dedication required. Membership is seen as a normal commitment for a disciple.
    - stewardship - consistent, considered, sacrificial giving of our money, possessions, time and abilities.

  8. GROWTH (2 Thessalonians 1:3)
    - inner growth in people, in which the Holy Spirit transforms them into the image of Christ.
    - the movement of people from the fringe to the core of life and ministry in and through the church.
    - programs which result in changed lives.

  9. THE MINISTRY OF ALL BELIEVERS (1 Corinthians 12)
    - recognising that God gifts people to do the ministry He has called the church to do.
    - encouraging people - to continue in fruitful ministry using their gifts.
    - equipping people - devoting significant resources to the task of preparing people for the work of ministry in the church and in their Monday to Saturday worlds.
    - releasing people for specific projects.
    - working together as a team in all ministries.
    - ministry which addresses the whole person with the love, justice and mercy of God.

  10. EVANGELISM (Acts 1:8; 4:32)
    - knowing the people in our community and their needs.
    - responding to their needs, and
    - seeking opportunities to present Jesus in word and deed.
    - inviting them to become disciples of Jesus and join the family of God.

  11. LEADERSHIP​ (1 Timothy 3:1-13)
    - all leadership is characterised by humility, sacrificial service, vision and faith.

  12. CHURCH AS COMMUNITY (Acts 2:42-47)
    - family- building stronger family and extended family networks, and encouraging and supporting biblical family values.
    - small groups as powerful vehicles of fellowship, pastoral care and spiritual growth.
    - relationships characterised by the fruit of the Holy Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
